What is polylactic acid fiber (PLA) ?
    Date:2025-06-19 Clicks:31次

The raw material of polylactic acid fiber (PLA) lactic acid is obtained by fermenting corn starch, so it is also called corn fiber. Polylactic acid fiber is a synthetic fiber made from biomass raw materials (such as corn, cassava, beet, sugar cane, straw cellulose, etc.) through microbial fermentation to generate small molecule lactic acid, and then through polymerization and spinning process.

    Characteristics of polylactic acid fiber:

Good environmental performance: Under certain conditions, it can be biodegraded into carbon dioxide and water, and does not produce open flames and toxic gases when burned. It is a green fiber.

Excellent physical properties: high strength, strong hygroscopicity, good UV resistance and good heat resistance.

Good processing performance: good performance with other blends.

    Application field:

Clothing field: commonly used to make underwear, sportswear and outerwear, etc., to meet consumers' needs for beautiful and environmentally friendly clothing.

Home textile field: can be used to make bed sheets, quilt covers, curtains, etc., to add comfort and beauty to the home environment.

‌Industrial field‌: used to produce special environmentally friendly paper, packaging bags, geotextiles, etc. ‌

Non-woven fabrics: PLA fibers can be used in non-woven fabric applications, such as sanitary products and filters. ‌

Agricultural field‌: such as animal-proof nets, seedling bags, ropes, etc., which can be naturally degraded to reduce agricultural waste pollution.
