    Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene Fiber(UHMWPE)

    Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber is referred to as UHMWPE fiber, and its alias is high-strength and high-modulus polyethylene fiber. It is an unbranched linear polyethylene with a molecular weight of more than 1.5 million. The general viscosity average molecular weight is more than 1.5 million, and the weight average molecular weight is more than 3 million.


    Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber is the strongest and most resilient fiber in the world, with many excellent properties such as ultra-high strength, ultra-high modulus, low density, wear resistance, low temperature resistance, UV resistance, shielding resistance, good flexibility, high impact energy absorption, and resistance to strong acids, strong alkalis, and chemical corrosion.


    In common parlance, it is: "As thin as paper, as hard as steel", and its strength is 15 times that of steel.


    Performance characteristics

    1. Excellent mechanical properties: The strength and modulus are the highest among materials of the same quality.


    2. Excellent impact resistance: Its ability to absorb energy and resist impact during deformation and shaping is higher than that of aramid fiber and carbon fiber, which are also the "three major high-tech fibers in the world".


    3. Excellent wear resistance: 

    Its wear resistance is better than other high-performance fibers. Because of its excellent wear resistance and bending resistance, its processing performance is also relatively superior, and it is easy to make into other composite materials and fabrics.


    4. Chemical corrosion resistance: The chemical structure of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber is relatively simple, and its chemical properties are relatively stable. Most chemical substances are not easy to corrode it. Only a very small number of organic solutions can slightly swell it, and its mechanical properties are less than 10%.

    Its properties and structures in acids, alkalis, and salts are particularly stable, and only in sodium hypochlorite solution does it lose strength.


    5. Good optical resistance: Because the chemical structure of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber is stable, its light resistance is also the best among high-tech fibers.


    6. Other properties: Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber also has good hydrophobicity, water and moisture resistance, electrical insulation and long bending life.


    Disadvantages:

     Disadvantages:Low melting point. During its processing, the temperature cannot exceed 130°C, otherwise it will creep due to the weak force between the molecular chains of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fibers, shortening its service life.
